Heilbron – Three people lost their lives in a devastating head on collision involving two light motor vehicles on the R57 between Sasolburg and Heilbron on yesterday (16 June 2026) afternoon.
The fatal crash occurred approximately 15 kilometres from Sasolburg between 15:00 and 16:00, prompting a major emergency response from rescue personnel and law enforcement agencies.

Images from the scene show the extent of the impact, with one vehicle overturned in a field adjacent to the roadway while a red Honda Fit registered in Lesotho sustained catastrophic damage to its front section.
Three occupants were declared dead at the scene.
Despite the severity of the collision, the driver of the Lesotho-registered vehicle survived and was attended to by emergency personnel.

Authorities cordoned off the area and implemented traffic control measures while rescue teams worked at the scene and investigators gathered evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
