PARYS – ANC Ward 4 councillor at Ngwathe Local Municipality, Malebo Magashule, appeared in court on Friday following his arrest over allegations of assaulting a child.
Magashule was arrested on Thursday and appeared in court today.
The case was postponed until Tuesday for a bail application.
His detention status pending the next court appearance still needs to be confirmed.

The matter comes amid reports that Magashule and his partner have protection orders against each other.
Further details surrounding the alleged incident, the charges Magashule faces and the circumstances leading to his arrest have yet to be independently confirmed.
Magashule has not been convicted of the alleged offence, and the allegations remain subject to the court process.
