Car allowance of acting CEO soars from R48,000 to R426,856 in a year while senior managers get loans

Bloemfontein – The Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority’s (FSGLTA) financial statements read like a book written by a drunk man with one message: “It’s our turn to eat.”

According to FSGLTA financial statements some board members were not paid because they worked for government, this they said it.

Following the exorbitant amounts paid to board members, as reported earlier, the car allowance awarded to Acting Chief Executive Officer Obakeng Seseane will leave you wondering whether the entity has forgotten about the people of this province, while employees have been begging for their salary increases.

Employees were even forced to down tools.

According to FSGLTA’s financial statements, Seseane received a car allowance of R48,000 in 2025, which soared to R426,856 in the latest financial year.

He didn’t get acting allowance last year, this year he is getting it, R390,000.

This by no means implies he does not deserve his allowances as it looks like he cut and reduced few things.

Seseane holds B.Tech Internal Audit.

The financial statements also reveal loans to key management personnel, individuals earning no less than R1.4 million per annum. It’s not clear if it’s the policy or just a group of managers thinking “how about we give ourselves loans”.

The contrast between expenditure and revenue is stark. The board’s tenure is ending next month and those clocking thousands will stay.

This is the Free State and these are results of the Provincial Conference that elected Mxolisi Dukwana, Ketso Makume, Poleliso Motsoeneneng, Mathabo Leeto, and Dibolelo Mance.

In other news, Sunday will mark exactly 2 full years since EFF, DA, and Actin SA opened criminal cases against Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, Free State Premier.

NPA had given 15 June deadline to take a decision.
