Sexual harassment inquiry: Ralithapa tries and fails to silence us

Staff Reporter

Bloemfontein – In an attempt to silence the publication of sexual misconduct against him during his time at Setsoto Local Municipality, Tshepiso Motsima has opted to use lawyers rather than the insults he previously directed at The Citizen newspaper.

Motsima, who serves as Chief Director: Corporate Services at the Free State Department of Human Settlements and has recently been appointed Acting Chief Director: Planning, referred to a media inquiry as “bare tloaela ma*+^pa” in an audio recording in our possession.

Listen below:

He was asked about the confiscation of cellphones after the audio was leaked.

Furthermore, we asked him whether he had ever been the subject of a sexual harassment case while employed at the Meqheleng-based municipality.

Instead of responding to the questions, Motsima appeared to believe that unleashing his lawyers would kill the story. However, legal threats, particularly those that are misdirected, are never appreciated.

They were told responded appropriately.

If Motsima and his lawyer wish to interdict the story, the proper course of action is to approach the courts and convince a judge why the story should not be published.

The story will still be published, including the accounts of every person involved.

Motsima may soon understand why the pen is mightier than legal threats.

The publication stands by its reporting and will continue to pursue the matter in the public interest.
