Bloemfontein – Former Free State Member of the Executive Council (MEC) and current Member of the Free State Legislature, Thembeni Nxagisa, has passed away following a period of illness. His death has saddened many across the province, where he was known for his years of public service and commitment to the people of the Free State.
Nxagisa served in the Free State Executive Council as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) from May 2019 until October 2021. He was subsequently appointed MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, a position he held until he was removed from the Executive Council.
Following his departure from the provincial cabinet, he continued serving as a Member of the Free State Legislature.
Details regarding his memorial service and funeral arrangements will be announced in due course by the Nxagisa family.
