Bloemfontein – The University of the Free State (UFS) has raised concerns regarding the academic credentials of Centlec SOC Chief Financial Officer, Zoe Williams.
Williams was appointed as CFO despite the position advertisement reportedly requiring a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 7 qualification in Finance.

Questions have emerged after she failed to provide the required certificate during a qualification verification process.
Correspondence between Centlec officials and UFS staff, seen by this publication, suggests that what began as a routine verification of qualifications has since raised further questions about Williams’ academic background.

According to information available to this publication, Williams is in possession of a Master of Business Administration (MBA) qualification. However, questions have been raised regarding the academic pathway followed to gain admission to the programme, as postgraduate admission requirements generally include an appropriate undergraduate qualification and, in some cases, a postgraduate diploma or honours degree.
Sources further explained that Williams did not complete studies undertaken at UFS between 2004 and 2006, nor studies at the Central University of Technology (CUT) in 2003.
The circumstances surrounding Williams’ admission to the MBA programme are now under scrutiny, with questions being asked about whether all academic requirements were met.
Williams subordinates at Centlec have MBAs according to sources with intimate knowledge.
