VIDEO | PA is ‘the last hope’ for Mangaung, says campaign manager Hloni Mahapane

BLOEMFONTEIN – Patriotic Alliance (PA) Mangaung mayoral campaign manager Hloni Mahapane says the party is confident of securing victory in the 2026 Local Government Elections, citing its growing presence across the Mangaung Metro Municipality.

Speaking in a video interview, Mahapane said the party has made significant strides in expanding its structures, having launched more than 20 wards across Mangaung while establishing a footprint in all 51 municipal wards.

He said the PA has already introduced councillor candidates in many of the wards that have been launched and believes the party is well positioned to challenge for control of the municipality.

Mahapane credited the party’s mayoral candidate, Sophia Swarts, for leading the campaign across Mangaung, saying her work has strengthened the PA’s presence throughout the metro.

Should the party win the upcoming elections, Mahapane said the PA would prioritise improving service delivery, restoring accountability and addressing the challenges facing residents.

He also reaffirmed the party’s support for its “Abahambe” stance, saying the Patriotic Alliance remains committed to the position championed by party president Gayton McKenzie, who also serves as the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture.

Asked why residents should vote for the Patriotic Alliance, Mahapane described the party as “the last hope” for Mangaung.

He said the PA is committed to uniting South Africans across racial lines, restoring dignity to communities and delivering meaningful change through improved local governance.
