Bloemfontein – The appointment of service providers through Requests for Quotations (RFQs), instead of open tender processes, to the value of approximately R10 million during the tenure of former Free State Education MEC Makalo Mohale have raised fresh concerns over procurement practices within the Department of Education.
Although the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) has declined to confirm or deny whether an investigation is underway, documents seen by this publication suggest that the procurement process may have been manipulated, resulting in the alleged looting of public funds.
The documents paint what appears to be a picture of a coordinated network involved in the awarding of contracts.
The Department of Education has defended its procurement processes.
However, the seriousness of the allegations has prompted renewed calls for the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to investigate the department’s procurement practices and determine whether public funds were unlawfully diverted and recover every cent like it’s doing with National Lottery Funds.
LG Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi must visit Free State, he will see how IDAC is nothing compared to FSPG.
Meanwhile, Makeleketla residents blocked Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, Free State Premier from addressing them citing her failure to province intervention in their service delivery matters.
School kids have been sent home at 12h00 week days due to water shortages in Windburg.
This is not the first time Makeleketla community protest but it’s the first time Mathae is refused an address by unhappy residents who are tired of lies and more to time.
Residents must do these do all politicians using their struggles for electioneering.
