Bloemfontein – Traffic officers have today once again busted another motorist found in possession of a fake driver’s licence during an inspection operation. The incident happened earlier today when officers stopped the driver and requested his documentation.
According to information available, officers became suspicious after examining the licence presented to them.
It was discovered that the licence paper had been placed on top of a SPAR rewards card in an attempt to make it appear legitimate.
The man, who is understood not to be a South African citizen, was questioned by officers at the scene.

During questioning, he admitted that he did not know the proper procedure for obtaining a South African driver’s licence and said someone had “hooked him up” with the document.Whether he was telling the truth or not remains for investigators to determine.
Authorities have raised concern that vulnerable people who are unfamiliar with official processes are being exploited by fraudsters selling fake licences.
The enforcement operation also saw at least 20 vehicles impounded for expired licence discs, as officers continued cracking down on motorists failing to comply with road regulations.
Officials warned that such scams place unqualified drivers on the road and endanger the lives of other motorists and pedestrians.
Traffic law enforcement agencies have vowed to continue intensifying document verification operations and roadside checks.
Officials say today’s arrest sends a strong warning that anyone found using fraudulent licences will face the full might of the law.
In the past three weeks eleven drivers were arrested in Mangaung with fake licenses.
This is a developing story.
