BUSTED: 4 Cars Seized in Mangaung Licence Crackdown

Staff Reporter

Mangaung – Four vehicles were seized during a compliance operation conducted at the municipal workshop on Rhodes Avenue, as municipal officers intensified efforts to clamp down on illegal and non-compliant vehicles operating within the metro.

The operation focused on checking vehicle documentation, roadworthiness, and the validity of licence discs.

Municipal officials uncovered vehicles operating with expired discs as well as fraudulent documentation, prompting immediate action.

Four vehicles(two sedans and two trucks) were impounded on the spot, reinforcing a zero-tolerance approach to violations.

Drivers of the seized vehicles are expected to appear in court this Friday to answer to the charges.

Two are Lesotho nationals while the other two are South Africans and cases are registered at Parkweg Police Station:

  • 326/04/2026
  • 328/04/2026
  • 330/04/2026
  • 331/04/2026

One of the impounded cars has a disc that expired in 2013 February 28.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to address non-compliance and ensure that all vehicles operating within Mangaung meet the required legal and safety standards.

Last month Mangaung Traffic Officers arrested seven drivers with fake licences.

Ishmael Kgamanyane, Head of Department Community Safety at Mangaung Metro said there is no place to hide.

“There is no place to hide in Mangaung anymore, our Traffic& Law Enforcement Officers are all over enforcing Municipal By-Laws and Traffic laws.

Law & Order and Compliance are non negotiable.”

This is a developing story.
