WATCH | Brainsvlei Combined School Hostel: Conditions “Worse Than Prison”

Staff Reporter

Bloemfontein – Shocking conditions have been uncovered at the hostel of Brainsvlei Combined School in Mangaung Metro, with learners living in environments “worse than prison” in South Africa.

The hostel accommodates 460 pupils, most of whom come from impoverished farm communities. These learners are forced to share just over 100 beds, raising serious concerns about overcrowding and basic human dignity.

Sources describe the living conditions as severely congested, with comparisons drawn to some of the most densely populated areas in the world.

STEPUPSANEWS can confirm that the hostel lacks access to hot water, forcing learners to rely on makeshift washing facilities.

Disturbingly, there are also reports of a bed bug infestation, further compromising the health and well-being of the pupils.

Concerns have also been raised about infrastructure, with a borehole reportedly non-functional despite significant funds being spent on its installation.

Kitchen Concerns

The hostel kitchen is inadequately stocked, prompting serious questions about management and the provision of basic nutrition for learners.

WATCH

Correctional facilities in South Africa offer better living standards, including reliable access to electricity, food, and hot water, amenities that these pupils are deprived of.

Under the ANC service delivery and the government’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities since 1994 is non-existent.

Department of Education in Free State is another crime scene, if pupils are not sexually assaulted it’s money being misappropriated or office rental corruption.

This is not something new, it started with Mathlabs.

Howard Ndaba, spokesperson for the Department of Education, has been approached for comment and requested time until next Tuesday to respond.

Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae will go down as the worst Premier ever, everything is collapsing under her leadership.

This is a developing story.
