Bloemfontein – The Head of Department at Free State Health, Masechaba Sesing will be smoked out back to Provincial Treasury next month.
This is allegedly after termination of contracts.
Sesing, who moved to Health from Provincial Treasury in December 2024, has only been with the department for four months but sources at Bophelo House say she is is as good as gone.
Her sins, according to Public Service Association (PSA) shop steward who spoke on condition of anonymity is termination of Infrastructure contracts linked to ANC funders.
“Since January, HOD has been reviewing all contracts and some, date back to 2009 but they are still running.
She asked legal department to review all contracts, especially infrastructure and up on legal opinion she terminates.”
Another source said contractors approached Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae after the termination of their contracts for intervention.
Ironically, it was Mathae while MEC of Community Safety, Roads, Transport who threatened contractors if they did not plough back.
She even bragged on camera that she terminated a contractor for Tweespruit road and that did not age well.
This sounds familiar, Mosa Masemene, suspended Head of Department at Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) said Mathae first asked her to terminate a housing contract and then asked her not to review certain contracts at Human Settlements and that Zakharia “Sulky” Mokoena, MEC for COGTA and Human Settlements said Premier instructed him.
Masemene refused and from that moment, she had a bullet with her name.
Both Mathae and Mokoena have never rebutted Masemene.
In January we reported of the alleged impasse between Sesing and Mathae over vacant CEO posts in hospitals.
According to sources Mathae wants to provide a list of candidates to be appointed while Sesing believes in meritocracy.
This too is not far fetched, Mangaung Metro almost hired a former Health employee who resigned following a probe by the department.
He had lied in his CV and is out on bail but guess who wanted Mangaung Metro to hire him?
The recently announced FDC board and politically connected individuals will be unpacked in due course.
We will unpack who nominated each candidate, interview scores, how the board was put together and for what purpose.
It was Dr Takisi Masiteng former Head of Department at Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) who told Mathae point blank that she was going to collapse the province and boy hardly six months later the empire is naked.
