*Bloemfontein* – The African National Congress (ANC) in Mangaung has distanced itself from the appointment of family members linked to its Regional Secretary, Sabelo Pitso, at Centlec SOC.
This follows an exposé published last week reporting that Alunge Pitso and Neo Nkosi, identified as Pitso’s wife and biological son, were employed at the power utility through his influence.
Reports further claim that Alunge received a promotion last year.
Sources also claim that Alunge and Neo are not the only individuals employed at the insistence of Pitso.
Ncamile Nxangisa, spokesperson for the ANC in Mangaung, said the party was not consulted on the appointments.
“The ANC in the region was not consulted or sought engagement with Centlec management or Mangaung Metro Municipality.
Any inference or acts of Nepotism are matters the movement will continue to speak out against irrespective of who is involved; however, such claims must be substantiated through proper investigative and administrative channels.
The ANC cannot be an arbiter on such matters as proper legal platforms are established to make determinations in such instances.”
The ANC branches in Mangaung are dead and the 70% threshold needed for the regional conference can’t be achieved, service delivery at its lowest point and the CEO of ANC in the region is looking after his family.
Pitso is not the only ANC leader in Mangaung whose family is working at Centlec SOC.
This is a developing story.
