Bloemfontein – A joint operation by Mangaung Metro Law Enforcement and the South African Police Service (SAPS) has resulted in the removal of illegal occupants from Happy Valley Park during the third phase of a multi-disciplinary operation conducted on Thursday.

Authorities said the operation forms part of efforts to reclaim public recreational spaces and improve safety in the area. During the operation, dangerous weapons were seized, while one occupant was reportedly found living inside a deep well water pump infrastructure.
According to officials, information provided by an occupant and community members also led law enforcement to an area linked to drug trafficking and vandalism.

The municipality said illegal occupation of public spaces contributes to environmental degradation, safety risks and damage to municipal infrastructure, while undermining investment opportunities and public use of recreational facilities.
New Feature: Officer
With law enforcement officers being killed or injured on and duty, we are introducing a law enforcement feature next month with special focus on their well-being, psychological support and protection.
We will profile officers across the board from police, traffic police, correctional officers, lawyers, prosecutors etc. This will extend to those failed by the employer.
This will be followed by Health professionals feature.
