Bloemfontein – Elzabe Rockman, Member of Executive Council for Department of Rural Development will honor and reward female farmers in Parys tonight.
Themed “Building resilient economy for all”, women in food security and economic cluster will compete in the following categories:
– Best female worker in the sector
– Best smallholder producer
– Best agro-producer in the sector
– Best subsistence producer
– Best commercial producer
– Best exporter in the sector
– Overall winner
– MEC special award
Sekgametsi Montjane from VKB Agricultural Development, a member of adjudication team has a message for all participants.

In other related news, the department has extended the closing date for funding application to 17 October 2025 due to low applications.
The funding is targeting black famers as department’s commitment to transform farming.
Rockman urged farmers to: “take advantage of this opportunity to grow operations and contribute to food security, job creation and economic transformation in the agricultural sector as a whole”.
She further urged all eligible committed to meet the new deadline and take part in the shaping the future of agriculture in the Free State Province.
