SACP Caleb Motshabi district at the centre of ousting Centlec boss

Bloemfontein – The already strained relations between South African Communist Party (SACP) and African National Congress (ANC) due to local government elections contestation by the communist party, could deteriorate further.

This as SACP is allegedly behind the plot to oust Malefane Sekoboto, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Centlec from the power utility.

STEPUPSANEWS can confirm that Itumeleng Segalo, District Secretary of SACP in Caleb Motshabi did not only attend the meeting of former Centlec employees, he was the scribe.

The meeting which was former employees of the power utility was held at the Premier hotel in Mangaung.

According to sources who attended the meeting, it was resolved Sekoboto must be pushed out.

“It was resolved that a petition to all political parties be in circulation to force the removal of the CEO as ANC is not entertaining us.

We will also take to the streets in protest on the 11 July 2025.”

Another source who was present in the meeting said they resolved to have full reinstatement of all former employees, dismissed or resigned.

“Among our demands is all former employees must be reinstated regardless of how they left, be it dismissal or resignation.”

Asked if at some point during the meeting they discussed how each and everyone left Centlec our source said “no”.

The converter and convener of former Centlec employees gathering is none of than Jankie Mpholeng, former service delivery monitor who was dismissed for stealing electricity who has matric only.

The meeting was chaired by Lele Mamatu, former spin doctor of the power utility.

Itumeleng Segalo, district secretary of SACP Caleb Motshabi didn’t respond to our questions.
