Bloemfontein – The Mangaung Metropolitan’s power utility, Centlec SOC has disconnected power in all government buildings due to outstanding debt.
This follows news that the provincial government owes Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality R1.3 billion.
Public Works owe Centlec R200 million while FDC owes R450 million.
Waterfront owe R44 million is also disconnected.
According to insiders at MMM the disconnection is also affecting businesses.
In March 2022, the Mangaung based power utility recovered R90 million after disconnecting provincial government.
Lele Mamatu, spokesperson for Centlec confirmed the disconnection.
”Yes we have disconnected.”
