WATCH: We are owed over R300 million and load shedding is not helping, CENTLEC spin-doctor

Bloemfontein – The developments in the energy sector are not only having an impact on consumers but on power utility, CENTLEC SOC as businesses go off the grid due to extensive load shedding.

Following up on what Odwa Duda, Auditor General Free State Business Unit Manager, said last year about the impact of load shedding on Centlec and the unprecedented power cuts that raised over R90 million from Free State Provincial Government in just a few days, there are more.

In an exclusive interview with Lele Mamatu, Centlec spokesperson, he mentioned that they are owed over R300 million in total.

Mamatu says they decided to enforce a debt collection policy where clients are not servicing their debt.

With regards to load shedding, he says apart from revenue collection due to load shedding, their infrastructure gets damaged.
