Bloemfontein – The much-talked-about ANC Free State manifesto launch, aimed at giving the electorate a clear message on why residents should vote for the ANC in the local government elections, has descended into a debate over whether the venue was full or empty.

While the ANC is trying to convince the public that the venue was full, critics say it was empty.

This debate is now taking attention away from the real messaging of the manifesto launch.

Earlier in the day, we asked ANC leaders and veterans what they expected from the messaging and what they meant by giving the ANC “another chance.”

It was the ANCYL leader who delivered the punch, with a message that contained the truth.

Instead of the manifesto being deliberated on and discussed, the tale of lenses took over.

As of 13h05, the venue did not appear to be full, according to time-stamped pictures. At most, the venue appeared to be about 80% full.

However, pictures taken from the front and side of the venue present a different picture from those taken from the back.

We were there, the venue was not full but you can defend your porridge..
