Maseru – Basotho National Party leader Machesetsa Mofomobe has called on the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry to investigate the alleged relationship between Prime Minister Samuel Matekane and controversial South African businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

This after Matlala told Justice Mbuyiseni Madlanga about his dealings in Lesotho, something Mofomobe has been saying for 13 months.

Mofomobe in an exclusive interview with this publication said he had raised concerns about Matlala’s links to Lesotho before, including a company allegedly registered in the country.

Mofomobe also pointed to Matlala’s alleged invitation to Matekane’s inauguration, saying the development warrants further scrutiny.
He has since written to the Madlanga Commission asking it to investigate the nature of the relationship between Matekane and Matlala and determine whether there were any business or other interests involved.

Mofomobe further urged the commission to examine alleged communications between the two, saying these could help establish the nature of their relationship.
The office of Prime Minister Sam Matekane has since distanced him from Matlala in a media statement released on Wednesday.

This is a developing story.
