Sasolburg – A road safety operation conducted near the Vaal Toll Plaza on the N1 has led to the arrest of three illegal immigrants.
The operation, led by Ketso “Toto” Makume; MEC for Finance, Economic, Development and Tourism in Free State Province, took place yesterday as part of ongoing road safety campaigns in the area.
WATCH:
During the operation, at least 600 vehicles were scanned, while two buses were impounded for failing to comply with road regulations.
Traffic fines were issued for the following offences:
- 8 cases of defective tyres.
- 2 cases involving registration plates.
- 2 cases of unregistered vehicles.
- 1 case of cellphone use while driving
- 3 cases of driving without a valid driver’s licence.
- 3 cases where drivers failed to produce identification.
