Bloemfontein – The 25th edition of National Teachers Awards (NTA) saw Free State based Motseki Mofokeng scoop the Kader Asmal Lifetime award.
Mofokeng is a teacher at Letlotlo Naledi Primary School in Kgotsong, Bothaville, Lejweleputswa District.
He teaches grade 4s Life Skills, with 33 years teaching experience, Phoka claimed the scalp and won R150 000 plus other goodies.
The Kader Asmal award is awarded to teachers who demonstrate a deep commitment social justice and activism in their work.

Other teachers who put Free State on the map are:
- Ms. Naledi Masienyane: Winner of Excellence in Primary School Teaching
- Ms. Gina Strauss: 2nd place in Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (GET)
- Mr. Tebello Tshabalala: 3rd place in Excellence in Secondary School Leadership
- Ms. Lindiwe Tlake: 3rd place in Excellence in Primary School Leadership
- Mr. Sechaba Lekhooa: 3rd place in Excellence in Teaching Physical Science (FET).
Dr Maki “Mathlabs” Maboya, MEC for Education congratulated the winners:
