Bloemfontein – While the department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport (CSR&T) attack Patric “The Butcher” Phuti for his alleged failure in the R709 project, and link Amadwala unnecessarily to justify their Mathae Defence Force (MDF) agenda, at least there is evidence in what Phuti said.
The CSR&T is the very same department that appointed New Beginnings Project against its own legal opinion.
STEPUPSANEWS is in possession of a bank statement showing payments totalling R500 000 to a company with linked to a senior official in the department.
The first payment of R150 000 made on the 3 November 2023, followed by R250 000 on the 27 December 2023, and R100 00 on the 22 March 2024.
These may not be only payments made to this company with links to department’s official who worked directly with Phuti in the R709 project.
There are also two payments of R500 000 each to COPA DELA REY on the 27 December 2023, the payments were done in a space of an hour.
COPA is the same company in the fog spray panel that was paid R9 million by Community Safety, Roads and Transport and it’s director worked at Kaizer Sebothela house, ANC provincial office. The panel was appointed after the department cancelled another panel of 15 companies appointed few months earlier before the chaotic ANC provincial conference in 2023.
The below companies were appointed and cancelled, there is one company from the cancelled 15 that made it into the fog spray panel and that’s Poloko Trading.
The National Prosecuting Authority in Free State is yet to decide on whether to prosecute Mathaes or not, and the docket which was sent back to the Hawks has now been returned.
Apart from the payments, there is video evidence of money exchanging hands.
With Tau Pele now in charge of construction on R709, the same company Phuti alleges gave him R2 million for Mathae, the WhatsApp texts between New Beginnings and Tau Pele will prove if it’s true or not.
