Free State needs Mkhwanazi

Stag reporter

Bloemfontein – The nuclear bombs dropped by Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, Kwazulu-Natal’s Provincial Police Commissioner has done nothing but to confirm what many were not brave to say publicly.

Mkhwanazi, held a major press briefing on Sunday accusing Police Minister Senzo Mchunu of interfering in the Political Killings Task Team operations -allegedly ordering senior SAPS officials to disband it, withdraw 121 active dockets, and stifle investigations into politically motivated murders.

Mkhwanazi claimed he has solid evidence: WhatsApp messages, forensic cellphone analysis, financial records showing communications and transactions involving Mchunu, his associate Brown Mogotsi, and businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala who the later arrested in May by the task team.

With President Cyril Ramaphosa giving lukewarm response, one province that needs Mkhwanazi is Free State.

Apart from kidnappings, political killings are on the rise with at least one senior government official having a bullet written his name following a forensic investigation that will likely send politicians and business people to Grootvlei Maximum Prison.

If this is carried out, it will not be the first as a senior employee at Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality was gunned down just last year and to date no arrest(s) made.

Political killings in Free State started when Nobi Ngombane was gunned down and just like many political killings, no one knows who ordered the hit and why.

Former Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro and leader of AASD, Papie Mokoena sat down with us and this is is what he had to say about Ngimbane’s death.

WATCH:

Kwazulu-Natal and Eastern Cape are tackling optical killings head-on, in Free State police visit politicians implicated in fraud and corruption and the visit is not take warning statement.

Head of department at Community Safety, Roads, and Transport, chairperson of Free State Liquor and Tourism Authority, and City Manager of Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality all received death threats.

While Mkhwanazi alleged the judiciary is also in it, no one questioned why National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Free State asked for a different judge to handle politically-linked-cases be assigned to a judge outside Free State.

What is it that the NPA know about judges in Free State?

This month marks seven months since the same NPA is applying its mind to charge Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, Free State Premier or not over her alleged involvement in fraud and corruption.

In December the NPA received dockets from Hawks relation to the case opened by the EFF and this was confirmed by the Hawks.
