Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The accounting firm, KPMG has made startling recommendations to Greg Nthatisi, Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality in the infamous IPTN Forensic report.

The report in possession of this publication was handed to Nthatisi last year by former Sindisiwe Chikunga, former Minister of Transport.

Chikunga gave Nthatisi 90 days to implement the findings and recommendations of the report.

In July 2024, the Mangaung Metro appointed Ngwane Attorneys to provide a legal opinion and they requested additional 90 days to study KPMG report.

In November 2024, the Attorneys submitted the legal option which supported the recommendations and findings of KPMG.

KPMG recommended the municipality to report to Department of Transport “potential irregular“ expenditure of R188 million in respect of invalid or expired contracts.

The report also recommended civil recovery against implicated officials.
