Bloemfontein – The Department of Health in Free State has terminated it’s contract with Vodacom.
Vodacom was contracted to manage the emergency application called Bophelo App aimed at helping department of Health with service delivery by amongst others streamlining government communication with its citizens and mostly patients via Citizen Engagement Platform (CEP).
STEPUPSANEWS can confirm the contract has been terminated with the telecommunications giants.
Insiders say from the day the contract was signed to date, only two regions namely: Mangaung and Xhariep have been rolled out.
If two out five regions are rolled out in the first year, that’s not bad.
Last year we reported about the App not working however, after our story, both the department and Vodacom put their heads together and found the solution.
Vodacom has similar Apps in O R Tambo District Municipality, Northern Cape Health, Mpumalanga Health, and Gauteng Health.
This is termination does raise eyebrows.
Few months ago Mosa Masemene, former head of department, in her court papers alleged she was instructed to terminate a contract at Human Settlements.
It remains to be seen if Vodacom will challenge the termination in court same way Patrick “The Butcher” Phuti is challenging Community Safety, Roads, and Transport over the road maintenance contract.
This is a developing story.
