Bloemfontein – A video footage from a meeting held in a Heidedal, Bloemfontein last year with serious allegations will shift the focus back to Free State Education.

The meeting, organised by Makalo Mohale, former MEC for Education, was attended by Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA) representative and local contractors following complains that Free State based companies were overlooked for work.

Jomo Ntuli, while addressing Mohale started off by telling Mohale his Head of Department was a rotten potatoe.

Ntuli then went after Supply Chain Management of the Departmental.

Interestingly, Comeback Legegeru, the director of SCM was moved to procurement, replacing Lebo Sebeela as a soon as Bob Tladi was appointed to act as DDG.

Tladi’s acting has come under fire over irregular appointments.

Both Legegeru and Tladi are heavily implicated in the Public Service Commission’s report released in November 2022.

To date, the PSC report which recommended Tladi, Legegeru and three others be subjected to disciplinary processes is gathering dust and no action has been taken.

This in relation to the irregular appointments in the department after the department appointed a person to a position she didn’t apply for.

The report also recommended the department to correct the irregular appointment of Cyril Ngwenya, a convicted criminal who is heading legal affairs of the department.

Howard Ndaba, spokesperson for Department of Education said they don’t know what they supposed to respond to.

“The accusation that the HOD is corrupt is not specific and lacks particularity and does not even detail the circumstances and incidents of this alleged corruption, we therefore do not know what we are supposed respond to.

Regarding the SCM as being ineffective, the department is audited by the AGSA and has achieved seven consecutive unqualified audit outcomes. Once more this statement lacks particularity and specificity. These spurious allegations are at best libelous and defamatory.”

In conclusion Ndaba said said anyone with information should approach law enforcement.

In other news, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations known as Hawks, is investigating the exam printing contract.

A letter in possession of this publication from Lieutenant Colonel Khoele paints a glaring picture.
