Bloemfontein – The taxi bosses in Free State have drawn the line in sand for Jabu “Edgars” Mbalula, MEC for Community Safety, Roads, and, Transport.
The meeting held in Mbalula’s office yesterday, was as a result of the story we published in which Monnapule Ntamo, an official from the department was caught on camera collecting something from a motorist suspected of being a taxi operator and putting in his pocket while looking around.

In attendance according to insiders were:
– Jabu Mbalula,
– Moleboheng Matshosa – chairperson of the licensing board
– S Magutshula – secretary
– Monnapule Ntamo,
– Advocate Mojalefa Molotsi DDG,
– Greater Bloemfontein TaxiAssociation Executive,
– Rainbow Executive (Meter Taxis),
– Provincial Taxi Council
A source who was of the meeting said they gave MEC an ultimatum.
“We made it very clear that he must fire Ntamo or face the biggest protest ever, we will mobalize all our members and shut the province down.
We are tired of these guys exploiting us.”
Mbalula who doubles up as the spokesperson for the ANC in the province has never said anything since the video emerged 3 days ago.
When pictures of Joyce “Pretenters” Mathae was doing the rounds in social media in what seemed like a hospital bed, Mbalula acting as Premier issued a statement within hours.
He was also involved in the Bongani Hospital saga when Mathae wanted a nurse be dealt with without processes followed.
