Walls closing in on Free State Premier

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The fate of Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, the embattled Free State Premier is now in the hands of National Director of Public Prosecution.

This after the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) affectionately known as Hawks, reportedly handed the docket over to their prosecution counterparts for a decision making.

The NDPP can either decide to prosecute, then a warrant of arrest will be issued or, decide not to prosecute which will-likely attract private prosecution.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) could not confirm nor deny if indeed the ball is in their court.

Senokoatsane Mojalefa, spokesperson for NPA in Free State and Northern Cape said they will provide formal response to our inquiry once the contents are proved to be factual.

“Please note that your inquiry is still to be studied and once the contents have been proved to be factual, you will then be provided with a formal response.”

This after we if the indeed the Hawks have handed the docket to NDPP.

Mathae has been in the spotlight since Patrick “The Butcher” Phuti, Chief Executive Officer of New Beginning Project made damning allegations against the Mathae and her husband, Lawrence Mathae after his R269 million contract was terminated six months into the job.

She took one month six leave and will return to work on the 16 December 2024, and the ANC would have closed for the year.

Mathaes are not the only once to catch fire as the net is cast wide.

In a related civil matter, STEPUPSANEWS understands a meeting was held on the 7 November 2024, in an effort to reach out of court settlement for what Phuti alleged was unlawful termination of the contract.

In the viral video below, Mathae is making reference to Community Safety, Roads and Transport tender in question.

WATCH:

The civil matter is about the termination of the contract and has nothing to do with criminal case that is attended by the NDPP.

At the heart of the dispute is letters exchanged between the department and New Beginning Project, a letter dated 3 July 2024 in particular.

Will Phuti settle of crumbs or go all the way for a loaf?

Patrick “The Butcher” Phuti is the man he thinks he is.

This is the developing story.
