“What would King Solomon do?” – Union leader

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) and Public Service Association (PSA) have raised an alarm in how their members are treated within department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport.

This follows an email by Dr Masego Tshabalala, head of department insinuating all decisions taken were aligned to public serve act and consultations were conducted in transfers.

She said.

“The department has a responsibility of upholding values of integrity, transparency, and accountability”

How did the appointment of Advocate Molotsi as (DDG), who is actively participating in hearings of employees be known at least two weeks before the advertisement closed? Not two after interviews, but two weeks before the closing date of applications.

A Union leader involved in the case of Mohammed Ismail said the department is fighting everyone.

“We are led by the worst, governance has collapsed in this department and tax payers are picking the tab.

It has been weeks since we waited for a ruling on fabricated case of Mohammed Ismail, Dr Molefinyane Phera the chairperson of the D.C has not made a ruling on that.”

He concluded.

“Considering he is acting Director General, we hope he will follow the footsteps of his namesake, King Solomon and be wise.

All he needs to do is to drop all charges so Ismail can go back to work but will he?

Don’t forget this is the same person who signed if notices laying off employees in the office of Premier.”

Mohammed, among others is accused of failing to report crime although a source at South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed he opened the case and is a state witness.

This renders the entire hearing redundant like employees transfers to posts they have no expertise of.

Last year we asked if this purging?

All names published in the below article have been targeted. Is this the integrity Dr Tshabalala is talking about?
