Bloemfontein – The election campaign in Ficksburg led by Fikile Mbalula, Secretary General of the African National Congress, was aligned with the ruling party’s rhetoric of promises, and more promises.

The poorly attended campaign despite door-to-door in the early hours by the CEO of the ruling party was held at Katlehong Sports Ground on Saturday.

Mbalula who was called the worst Secretary General of the ANC by party veteran, Mavuso Msimanga after he accused him of accepting bribes, said people were dying and the ANC took a decision to provide ARVs for free.

In conclusion, Mbalula said his party would build 5000 houses.

Residents accused Mbalula of populism, cheap politicking, and lying all in the name of votes.

“It’s sad that he is opting for populism, cheap politicking, and lying all in the name of votes.

Using HIV/AIDS and Tatane’s death is so insensitive.”

Another resident said the community of Meqheleng refused to attend.

“The community refused to come out of their houses and this campaign was mainly attended by councilors, we are stupid.

Ficksburg is far worse than it was when Andries was killed unless he went to a different Ficksburg.”
