Bloemfontein – The Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport in Free State is again in the spotlight over jobs for pals.
This follows our story in which the department, decided to ignore the Labour court judgment after it ruled in favor of the department in a case against Monnapule Ntamo who was dismissed and was reemployed after the labor court overturned the bargaining council decision.
It didn’t end there, the department reemployed him on the last notch.
Yesterday, we ran another story of contract employees whose contracts were not renewed and we have since learned the department has advertised five positions with the closing date being 19 April 2024.
STEPUPSANEWS has reliably learned that for at least Deputy Director General and Chief Financial Officer, employees (names withheld) of Road Traffic Management Council (RTMC) will be appointed in the two positions as their contracts are expiring at RTMC.
One of the two was representing the department in disciplinary hearing of an employee who was suspended last year and fired yesterday.
He allegedly advised the MEC to terminate the employee despite the hearing still on, and she did.
For his role he will allegedly be rewarded with a contract.
This is way before the advert even closed but already appointments are known because appointments are predetermined.
If you honestly thought the newly elected ANC leadership in Free State is not worse than what they accused Magashule and Ntombela of, the joke is on you.
With elections around the corner the deployees of ANC in Free State are decampaigning their party, always putting their feet in the mouths, unprovoked.
Hilary Mophethe, spokesperson for Community Safety, Police and Roads has not responded to our questions regarding number of employees suspended.

A lot of corruption is happening in that department of community safety and transport from the time it was still DPR&T. People are appointed without meeting the necessary requirements according to the advertisement. One post is advertised but five appointments are done. Psbc investigate the matter and give out a report that those posts were illegal but whoever is incharge shows them a middle finger. These of RTMC does not come as a shock such was long expected. We thought with the new provincial leadership thing were gonna happen differently but seems we’ve gone from bad to worse.
