Bloemfontein – Investigations into the attempted murder of Free State Health official, Simon Thulo has resulted in one suspect arrested and more arrests imminent.
Thulo was shot on Sunday, 28 January 2024 by apprehended suspect and two others.
The alleged shooter, appeared in court yesterday and case has been postponed to 8 April 2023, for formal bail application while the hunt for other suspects continues.
With at least four recorded death threats in Free State in the past 6 months, two were shot and one passed away, that is 25% strike rate.
Among those threatened is Dr Masego Tshabalala, Head of Community Safety, and Malefane Sekoboto, CEO of Centlec.
Former Centlec CEO Andries Mgoqi was killed day light and suspects in his murder have apprehended.
In the past 24 months a Hawks official linked to the livestock team was gunned down and another Centlec official was also killed outside his home in Bloemfontein.
Lt Colonel Thabo Covane confirmed the arrest.
“A case of Attempted murder was opened at Bainsvlei Police Station and a manhunt was launched. On Thursday 28 March 2024 the police pounced on the first suspect, 30 year old Nkweebe Seatile.
The suspect was remanded in custody after his first appearance today and he is expected back in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Monday 8 April 2024. More arrests are expected.”
