EFF pleased with Sasolburg Mooidraai progress

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Fezile Dabi region are delighted with the establishment of sites and the ongoing construction of an internal water and sewer infrastructure network system in Mooidraai, Sasolburg, in the Metsimaholo Local Municipality.

According to the party regional chairperson April Motaung, the project is the brainchild of the EFF and they have been fighting ‘tooth and nail’ at both Local and Provincial spheres of government to ensure that this is taking place in the area.

“Malemaville is a cornerstone and a clear depiction of what a government under the EFF is like.

The EFF was called all sorts of despicable names after the establishment of Malemaville, that it was throwing people into the wilderness and that it was part of an electioneering campaign,” said Motaung.”

In October 2021, the EFF national leader Julius Malema encouraged residents to occupy land in Mooidraai.

At the time of his public address, the party viewed the area which had over 5 000 residential sites as home.

Motaung claimed the establishment was to restore the dignity of their people and ensure that they enjoy the basic human rights as enshrined in Chapter 2 of the South African constitution.

“The EFF remains resolute on the formalization of Malemaville and this EFF-inspired project to establish sites and construct an internal water and sewer infrastructure network system is a step in the right direction.

This will guarantee improved living conditions through secure tenure, clean and reliable water and sanitation, and adequate access to social services,” Motaung said.

The EFF has promised to make sure that houses and a school are built, proper road network is developed and there is a 24-hour health centre in the area.

As the former Metsimaholo Local Municipality MMC for Human Settlement, Motaung wanted to work on formalising Mooidraai and address challenges of unfinished RDP houses the area.

Motaung was one of the nine appointed MMCs of Metsimaholo municipality.
