EFF lay fraud charges against Dukwana

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Free State Province have laid fraud charges against Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana.

According to verified pictures taken on South African Police Service computers, the case was laid on 31 July 2023, at 09h30 by Couch Liphoko, the EFF provincial chairperson.

This relates to the appointment of a senior manager in the office of the Head of Department at COGTA.

At the time of the appointment in question (1 March 2023), the EFF alleges Dukwana had already assumed the Premiership.

Speaking exclusively to STEPUPSANEWS, Liphoko said the signatures on the appointment letter and acceptance letter do not look the same.

“If you look at the signatures on the appointment of the senior manager and the signature of the acceptance letter by the Premier, they look too different.”

Liphoko went further to explain their case.

“If you remember Sefora Ntombela resigned on 21 February 2023, Dukwana was sworn in few days later in February but he signed that appointment on 1 March as MEC of COGTA when he was the Premier.

Dukwana faced a motion of no confidence by the EFF which ANC defeated.

Athenkosi Mabona, spokesperson for COGTA MEC Ketso Makume asked if we mean COGTA FREE STATE when we sent questions.

Should Dukwana be charged, this could have serious ramifications for him as he will be required to step aside and the ANC leading up to elections.

We will reach out to SAPS in the coming days.
