Bloemfontein – The staff at the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and, Recreation (SACR) in Free State were left shocked after Mxolisi Dukwana, Free State Premier allegedly told them that their department would be unbundled and they would be moved either to Education and DESTEA.
Furthermore, Dukwana is accused of racially profiling white staff after he allegedly asked them what they be remembered for before they walked out leaving Dukwana and Dan Khuthule, the newly appointed head of intervention in the Premier’s office addressing black staff members.
The meeting was attended by Chief Directors and Directors with both MEC, Mahasa, and HOD, Steve Tshabalala noticeably absent according to sources.
It’s not clear why Dukwana appointed Tshabalala just a month ago as HoD only to unbundle the department.
Last month we reported a bloody exchange of texts between Tshabalala and Khothule after the latter involved the same officials in a service delivery war room WhatsApp group without the former knowing.
Sources privy to Free State Provincial Government (FSPG) say the crux of the matter is Dukwana is of the opinion SACR is ineffective.
What is concerning is much as the department is in shambles but what is the Premier’s strategy of each individual development and what matrix has the Premier used to determine the effectiveness or lack thereof of SACR.
The meeting was confirmed by another SACR staff member in a Facebook post.
