Bloemfontein – The South African Institute of Chartered Accounts (SAICA) has somersaulted on a complaint against Masechaba Sesing, the Head of Department at Free State Province Treasury.
This follows a media inquiry by this publication on 25 June after a complaint was laid with the accounting body over Sesing in June.
The letter in possession of this publication has a SAICA stamp and was received by Lulu Sitsila.
In the first attempt to solicit a response from SAICA to confirm whether they have received a complaint, Sesing is their member, and they will investigate lastly, Sitsila who received the letter works for SAICA, the head of communication Renette Human outright confirmed Sitsila works for them and said Sesing is not their member.
“Please note that after intense consultation with our Discipline and Membership teams, we can confirm that Ms. Masechaba Sesing is not a SAICA member and that SAICA, according to its by-laws, has no jurisdiction to investigate this matter.
SAICA only has jurisdiction over its members who are CAs(SA), AGAs(SA), and ATs(SA).”
We then sent a follow-up with her maiden name which are Masechaba Agnes Moneile with the hope that they will confirm if she is still their member they are investigating her as per the complaint or not, but the response was very lukewarm.l on the 3 July 2023.
“I’ll check the finer details with the relevant teams, thanks.”
Today marks exactly 15 days since that response and it begs the question; is SAICA interested in this matter and what response have they given to the complainant?
Below is a SAICA verification form, you don’t need to be a CA to punch in details here to verify if a person is your member or not let alone a month.

The approach to this complaint is not consistent with the disciplinary steps of SAICA which are:
Step 1.
Upon receipt of the complaint, a unique case number is registered.
Step 2.
Verification is done and if the complaint is against a non-member, then the complainant is notified.
From the above steps, this takes a rather opposite turn.
We will wait to hear if she is a member and if the complaint is attended to.
Once they confirm the investigation we will deal with the contents of the complaint.
This is a developing story.
