Bloemfontein – The Directorate for Priority Crimes known as the Hawks are keeping their cards closer to chest concerning the trip the team took to the United State to arraign Ace Magashule’s former personal assistant, Moroadi Cholota
Initially, the state alleged Cholota was its witness, a move vehemently denied by Magashule, and later on, the state changed its tune and said a warrant of arrest will be issued after the state alleged she was not corporating, and Cholota became an accused.
According to sources privy to the investigation team the Hawks team flew to the United States to arraign Cholota.
“Our boss flew to the US to arraign Mororoadi after she failed to corporate as a witness in the Estina Dairy Farm case and because she was handling all requests related to funding, she is a very important figure.”
Asked what’s next, our source said the extradition process will follow and the FBI is helping.
“We will start the extradition process if not already in motion and we are getting help from the FBI, this will not be like the Bushiri and Guptas as we have a treaty with the US.”
Another source said that the state is wasting time and resources as there is no case.
“Unfortunately we have to do this and there is nothing here if you recall evidence from the State Capture Commission is inadmissible in court and that’s what we rely upon and the same goes for Gupta Leaks.”
The Gupta Leaks evidence was rejected in the Nulane Investment case by acting Judge Nompumelo Gusha as the state could not produce original documents.
The accused through their legal team won a trial within a trial after arguing the emails cant be admitted as evidence and the judge agreed before the accused sought discharge judgment will be handed in next week but they will likely walk scot-free after the state cracked.
Should judgment go their way it will not only be a bloody nose for the state but it will serve as ammunition for Ace Magashule, Edwin Sodi, Thabane Zulu, Olly Mlamleli, Nthimotse Mokhesi, and others.
Will the State Capture testimony evidence be admissible on trial?
Hawks, Brigadier Mbongo did not respond to our questions.
