Lesedi FM’s women magazine show presenter, Maneileng Letuka has been placed on pre-cautionary suspension allegedly after she joined the Bloemfontein-based radio station without getting permission from her employer.
Her suspension will be for 3 months effective from 25 January to 25 April 2023.
According to sources, Letuka who works as the first engineering assistant is full-time, therefore, she needs to get written permission from the CEO to do other work outside the chapter 6 institution.
Step UP SA News reported last year in march that Letuka and former YoTV presenter Rorisang Thandeka will be joining Lesedi FM.
Another source said the staff started complaining in corridors that she was getting special treatment as she was on the radio between 09h00 – 12h00 Monday – Friday and that caused discomfort.
“She is doing private work during working hours and it’s not fair otherwise we should all do private gigs during Centlec’s time.”
Section 71 (1) of Ordinance 8 of 1962 stipulates an employee may not be involved either directly or indirectly in any personal or other matter during his official working hours, without the permission of the director personnel on the recommendation of the head of the department.
Lele Mamatu, spokesperson confirmed the suspension, “Yes, she is on precautionary suspension due to working at Lesedi FM and Centlec (getting both salaries). Please refer to chapter 6 for doing private work.”
Gugu Ntuli, Spokesperson for SABC could not be reached for comment.
This is a developing story.
