Cutting Edge News, Real Stories From South Africa

Who has never benefitted from Mothebe?

Following allegations that politicians in Free State especially in government ask for money and other material things from businessmen in the province, a million-dollar question was what do Free State politicians do with their salaries when they are forever asking for money and other things from businessmen?

We have since established politicians and their friends do consume expensive alcohol that they can’t afford and call businessmen to come and pay.

Step Up SA News has learned that almost all MECs and HODs in the current leadership have benefited from Tsotang Mothebe, a local transport operator who according to sources he has been funding the lifestyles of MECs and HoDs.

According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity Mothebe bought politicians HoDs cars among other things.

“He spent a lot on them buying others cars, paying for holidays and to a large extend settled bills and giving others cash.”

According to a list provided to this publication we still need to verify the entire government is mortgaged. However, this corroborates information we received that prominent politicians were asking for money for ANCYL Conference in Mangaung.

With the Provincial Conference expected next month if it will indeed go ahead, money will be needed.

Tsotang Mothebe and his family donated over 600 food parcels to the needy during the lockdown and he could not be reached for comment. Once we have verified the list and provided a right of reply to the beneficiaries we will publish it with information stating who got what and for what purpose.

This explains why MECs want to influence procurement processes or put their preferred people in the supply chain.

In other news Free State High Court judge Daniso has put the matter between Centlec and Hlonelwa Nkomo, its former CFO to bed.

This followed an application by the power utility seeking a declaratory order confirming their settlement.

Daniso ruled on Monday, 29 August 2022, Centlec has complied with the settlement after paying Nkomo as agreed.
