Nine companies bidding for Macufe 2022 leaked

There are at least nine companies that have raised their hands to host the 2022 edition of the Mangaung African Cultural Festival (Macufe).

Macufe returned after two years of hiatus due to the covid-19 pandemic. The festival turned into a laughing stock in 2007 when powers at the time decided to hand Macufe to Tourism.

It was only after Ace Magashule, the suspended secretary general of ANC, then as MEC of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation singlehandedly saved Macufe by ensuring the Macufe programs are aligned to Arts and Culture with Mario Sefo tasked with it.

Since then Macufe was on the upward trajectory with Sefo fully in charge. Sefo was admitted to the hospital and it’s alleged he was recalled from sick leave to assist with Macufe.

It has also come to our attention that Vincent Khetha, Chief Director of Cultural Affairs was also admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning, and it is not clear when will he be discharged.

So with a Festival Director and Chief Director at the host department not well, who can be trusted with the purse?

Step UP SA News has received a list of nine companies that allegedly raised their hands to host Macufe, among them is DS Consortium which according to CIPC was registered just two days before the bid closing date.

The alleged companies and their quotes are as follows:

Accurate Events – R3 000 000

Black shift Entertainment – R4 073 825.36

T-Music Man PTY (LTD) – R1 778 661.00

SaSha Trading – R2 469 452.00

Trish Industry R22 314 051.00

Central Plaza Investments 199 JV – R22 600 000.00

C-Squared – R16 849 863.80

DS Consortium  R22 960 962.41

WW P-Group PTY (LTD) – no specifications on pricing

Though the list has not been independently verified few sources close to the situation say the Supply Chain and Security team have visited bidders to check their resources.

Based on pricing, skills, experience, and resources, and considering the event is just thirty-eight (38) days, thirty-eight the only company that can deliver is C – Squared.

But this SARC we talking about, they still have month-to-month security contract which started in 2018 and the dont see anything wrong with that.

This is a developing story.
