Bloemfontein – The Free State Provincial Government has released details of the State of the Province Address (SOPA) days before it is officially set to be delivered.
Ordinarily, infographics and detailed summaries are shared after the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) or a Premier’s SOPA.
However, in what many view as an unprecedented move, the provincial government appears to have scored an own goal by publishing the contents of Premier Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae’s speech ahead of time.
In effect, by the time residents tune in on Friday, they will already know what Mathae intends to say — raising questions about the purpose and impact of the live address.
Notably absent from the pre-released material is any clear indication that corruption will be addressed.
Mzwandile Silwana, office manager of Dr Solomon Phera is a convicted fraudster having been sentenced to 10 years for fraud, corruption and money laundering.
Matshediso Setai whom Dr Phera appointed in December as provincial spokesperson was found guilty of 13 charges and dismissed by National Department of Transport.
Last week Setai misled ANC in the province to believe Mahlengi Bengu was behind Mathae Defence Force and as things stand, she lied.

The speech is expected to focus on:
EDUCATION
Free State lost number 1 spot to Kwazulu Natal and this is a great achievement worth mentioning by Mathae.

HEALTH
The National funded Borwa Clinic in Tweespruit is also a talking point in Mathae’s speech, the clinic is partially functional as there is no water in Tweespruit.
Over and above that, a patient was administered expired drips in Senorita Nhlabathi Hospital.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE & FEMICIDE (GBVF),
The FSPG launched Mens Indaba that was riddled with fraud and corruption as the host venue was announced before SCM processes even started.

STUDENT LOANS
This is nothing new, every other Premier did it.

If you have time of on Friday please watch Madlanga Commission because watching SOPA will be a waste of time.
On Friday, we will publish a detailed article about a company linked to Patrick Phuti that secured a R97 million tender at the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport. This company was paid R1 million from the failed Tweespruit and Excelsior project.
