Bloemfontein – The much-anticipated Regional Conference in Mangaung, scheduled for March, is now hanging in the balance following the failure by branches to meet the 8 February deadline for Branch Biennial General Meetings (BBGMs).
In December, Polediso Motsoeneneng, Provincial Secretary of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State, told this publication in an exclusive interview that regional conferences would be held in March, with roadmaps already underway.

However, on 28 January, Sabelo Pitso, Regional Secretary/Coordinator, issued a letter to branches setting 8 February as the deadline for compliance.
Sources within the ANC Mangaung Region, particularly in the Kaizer Sebothela corridors, say internal disputes could make it impossible to convene the regional conference as planned.
“We have received lots and lots of disputes, and to address them it will take at least three weeks. Logistically, we may not succeed,” said one insider.
The last Mangaung conference was riddled with accusations and counter-accusations where parallel conferences were held.
Both were sanctioned by the IPC but because the plan was to support Southern Sun faction the Imvelo Conference was regarded as the legit conference.

Few months later, Motsoeneneng said they were products of fraud, something many people said.
This publication has requested an interview with the ANC in the Free State regarding preparations for the regional conferences, the latest developments on the seven red-flagged municipalities, and the upcoming provincial conference.
In other news, ANC’s statement defending so Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, Free State Premier was forced down by Tshidi Setai who went as far as using Mahlengi Bengu’s name.
Leaked texts provide the extend in which Setai will defend her boss.
