Transfer of CFO Linked to Fallout from ANC’s Chaotic Conference

Staff Reporter

Bloemfontein – The controversial transfer of Nozipho Molikoe, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Department of Human Settlements, to the Department of Social Development appears to be the culmination of a plan allegedly conceived in the aftermath of the chaotic ANC conference held at Imvelo Safari Lodge.

Molikoe, who officially reported for duty at Social Development on 14 January directly from leave, has become the latest senior official to be pushed out of Human Settlements under questionable circumstances.

Her transfer follows a pattern that has already seen the removal of several top officials from the department. First to go was Mosa Masemene, the former Head of Department, followed by Mokete Makepe, who was transferred to the Department of Health.

Makepe, previously a Chief Director: Infrastructure, now occupies a Deputy Director position and reports to a Director, an apparent demotion that has raised eyebrows within government circles.

Compounding the situation, Dr Monyane, a Director appointed in May last year at Department of Education and transferred to Health few month later, is currently acting as Chief Director: Infrastructure and is reportedly receiving an acting allowance.

A similar arrangement is now unfolding at Human Settlements with Edward Kotjomela who joined Human Settlements as Director in December abd few days later he was appointed as acting Chief Financial Officer.

Sources indicate that John Matlala, Director for Supply Chain Management at Human Settlements, is next in line for transfer, this time to the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

News reaching our table is Mokoena’s office manager is in the highest notch after a submission was rejected but later signed off.

The office manager in question is now on our radar to check if he has minimum requirements needed for that position.

In the late Pravin Gordhan’s famous words: “Connect the dots.”
The unfolding developments suggest that this was not coincidence, but rather the execution of a carefully planned strategy.

In 2023, Dr Takisi Masiteng became the first victim of Mokoena and Mathae combo and this is the man who refused to take unlawful instructions from Mokoena and Mathae transferred him.

He told Mathae in her face that she will collapse government and she proved him right.

The transfer of staff has emotional repercussions to employees.
