ANC in Free State got the green light to drop the guillotine on 7 mayors

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The African National Congress (ANC) in Free State is getting ready to drop the guillotine on it’s seven mayors.

This follows a meeting between Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and Fikile Mbalula, Secretary General.

This after it announced the redeployment of some mayors, chief whips and speakers of seven municipalities.

The affected municipalities include Mafube, Moqhaka, Letsemeng, Nketoana, Nala, Masilonyana and Lejweleputswa.

In August, the Provincial Working Committee resolved to take strong action against under-performing municipalities.

This followed highlighted failures in the Auditor General’s report and Parliament’s Cooperative Governance Portfolio committee’s oversight visit led by Dr Zweli Mkhize.

According to three sources with intimate knowledge the decision to redeploy seven mayors stood.

“We engaged the Cde SG and agreed this is our decision and we discovered some mayors went to SG behind our backs to lie but all is set now.

SG raised his concerns and we clarified everything.

Next month we will have new mayors.”

Another source said in the second phase Maluti-A-Phofung, Matjhabeng and Ngwathe will be supported but truth be told, the trio should have been included in the list of redeployment. They are worse among the municipalities in the country not just Free State.

The current leadership of ANC is the most factional in the history of the province and the only thing they knew how to fight was to topple Ace Magashule, and since he is longer in the picture they are fighting each other, doing far worse than the person they were accusing.

The PWC might meet again soon Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, Free State Premier, Teboho “Sulky” Mokena, MEC for COGTA and Human Settlements, and Dibolelo Mance, MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure are all under Hawks investigations.

They are under criminal investigations for for fraud and corruption.

Thabo Manyoni, former Executive Mayor of Mangaug explain better how people are elected into power.
