Sulky Mokoena to build 262 houses in Qwaqwa & Thaba Nchu

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The Department of Human Settlements to build a total of 262 houses in Qwaqwa and Thaba Nchu to replace mud houses.

This is according to Teboho “Sulky” Mokoena, MEC for COGTA and Human Settlements, the project will start on 1 November 2025 and likely to be completed just before local government elections.

Qwaqwa will have a total of 138 while Thaba Nchu will have 124 houses of the very first Innovative Building Technologies (IBT).

Cost of living is too high in South Africa and many rely on government for shelter.

As to who gets a house or how, it’s a story for another day including which companies have been awarded this lucrative work.

Qwaqwa, Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo remain the most undeveloped towns since dawn of democracy.

Botshabelo still has pit toilets in this day and age.

Mokoena is one MEC who gets what he wants, something other MECs don’t get. He is even called defacto Premier.

This is a developing story.
