Transport Month: Raubex doing a stellar job on R27

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – Roads in Free State have been the Achilles tendon for motorists both Free State residents and those in transit.

The Department of Community Safety, Roads, and Transport (CSR&T) have been on the receiving end of courts over accidents caused by pothole, just last week, Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) set another precedent  judgment on Tuesday when it kicked MEC Jabu Mbalula’s teeth inside by setting aside high court judgment that prevented Rossouw condonation for serving the required statutory notice on Free State Police, Roads and Transport MEC Jabu Mbalula only in December 2018 – more than seven years after the six-month statutory deadline had expired.

Rossouw lost her husband in that accident. Let that sink in.

POTHOLES
In another case, the SCA dismissed department’s appeal after full bench ruled in favor of Goldfied Logistics.

This after Goldfied Logistics spent its money to repair potholes the department is failing to fix. The logistics company claimed R234 594.65 only and the departmet refused to pay. Goldfeld alleged Mbalula failed to repair roads for years. A mere R234 thousand….

With Pothole Eradication Program now shut, the department can expect litigation for accidents caused by potholes because most Free State roads are unroadworthy.

RAUBEX
On the positive, Raubex is doing a stellar job on R27 between Sasolburg and Heilbron.

While a lot is still to be done but from the complete portion, the road is solid unlike what we saw from other roads.

WATCH:

Raubex has several road project in Free State we shall visit them as well.

A senior government official who spoke on condition of anonymity said Raubex always deliver as they have the muscle.

This is a developing story.
