“We need jobs not bottle stores” residents from Tweespruit

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The residents of Tweespruit in Free State have bemoaned lack of jobs in their town.

Speaking exclusively to this publication, residents who spoke on condition on anonymity for fear of victimisation say there are no job opportunities available.

“Tweespruit is just a poverty stricken town, there is nothing for us here.

We don’t have options available, either you work for the municipality or Usave, otherwise we scramble for crumbs.

Our people go to Thaba Nchu for opportunities.”

Asked about the newly built clinic he thanked national department of Health for funding.

“The clinic will only serve as far as service delivery for the community, for job opportunities politicians are going to employ their friends and families like they do with EPWP.

We must thank national department of Health for building this clinic for us, it’s state of the art with a mortuary, we certainly hope it will open 24/7.”

STEPUPSANEWS has learned the planning was under Montsheng Tsiu, former MEC for Health and the total cost R 62 million.

About 500 meters away from the clinic is a bottle which residents say it belongs to Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae, Free State Premier.

Asked what he expected when Mathae became Premier one resident said they had hopes.

“It goes without saying that we are proud to have our own as Premier but we are worse than ever.

Ace Magashule took care of his people, he made sure people from his hometown and region were employed.

We can debate if they qualified or not, but he made sure they were employed.

If you go to Parys you will see what he has done. Charity begins at home.

We need jobs not bottle stores.”

Tweespruit is surrounded by three road maintenance projects. Two provincial and one national (N8 SANRAL).

An employee told this publication they only worked three days in June and were told there is no money.

In other news, acting Judge Jordaan ruled in favour of Masengemi Puseletso against MEC for Community Safety, Roads and Transport.

This followed an accident caused by potholes on R34 between Memel and Vrede.

Acting Judge Jordaan ordered the department to pay Masengemi damages.

“The defendant is liable to the plaintiff for 100% of her agreed or proven damages, arising out of the injuries sustained in the motor vehicle accident.”
