Bloemfontein – The Head of Department Health (DoH) in Free State, Masechaba Sesing has averted suspension following a meeting held on Saturday after Free State Premier, Joyce “Pretenders” Mathae allegedly visited her.
Sesing who was served with audiatur et altera pars to make representations on why she should not be suspended had till Thursday to submit her representations.
Sources with intimate knowledge allege Mathae met Sesing following questions from City Press and in that meeting, Mathae allegedly promised Sesing leniency, asked her to show remorse in her representations and in return, she will “not be suspended”.
The audiatur et altera pars letter followed Public Service Commission (PSC), Prof Brian Nakedi’s letter on the 2 June 2025, to Mathae after Judge Mhlambi’s judgment on the 27 May 2025, dismissing Sesing joinder application.
According to the letter in possession of this publication, Nakedi relying on the court judgment asked Mathae to implement PSC recommendations:
- disciplinary action
- consequence management over usage of Ramapai Attorneys
Rampai Attorneys were in the forefront threatening everyone with letters including the same PSC, and Sunday World.
Sesing is also facing probes from Public Protector of South Africa (PPSA) and SAICA in a separate matter, extension of Standard Bank account.
She also suspended three employees over Macufe saga and all employees returned to work with one employee compensated over R100 000.00 for unlawful suspension.
Professor Brain Nakedi, Public Service Commission’s head in the Free State has not responded to our questions despite committing to.
We asked him how many reports has his office issued and among those, how many have been implemented.
While Nakedi may be doing his work there is a reasonable apprehension of bias considering a 2023 PSC report implicating Department of Education officials is gathering dust.
His wife was recently appointed by Mathae as Free State Development Corporation (FDC) board member.
This is a developing story.
