Employee suspended for 617 days to be found guilty to avert litigation

Staff reporter

Bloemfontein – The disciplinary hearing of Muhammed Ismail, Chief Director Fleet at Community Safety, Roads and, Transport (CSR&T) will end today with a predetermined verdict of GUILTY.

Ismail was suspended on the 15 August 2023, following series of WhatsApp texts indicating he together with others will either be charged and dismissed or transferred.

He was suspended and charged for allegedly failing to report a crime involving sales of cars while he is the complainant and witness in the criminal case.

This was confirmed to this publication by Hawks sources and provided a case number: CAS 100/10/2023

Scrutiny to the case number confirm it was Ismail who reported the matter and opened a case.

As to why the department would come up with such charges no one can explain.

STEPUPSANEWS has learnt at least two witnesses, one, on behalf of the department testified in Ismail’s favour while the other, who is out on bail for the same matter in court testified for him and also exonerated him.

With their backs against the wall considering he (Ismail) has been at home for 617 days and likely to litigate, a plan has been hatched to find him guilty at all costs to avert litigation.

According to insiders at CSR&T his fate has been decided and will be found guilty and the recommendation would be a transfer to another department.

This is a developing story.
